Lament for a Lost Love

Waves of grief, of sadness
Pound upon my shore…
Oh, why can’t you be here
Beside me …anymore?

Remembering back to sunny times
Of yesterday…
That filled my heart with happy songs
On rainy days.

When love took care of us
And was our friend
Through all the darkest nights
Until the end,

My heart is lonely
For the love I miss…
Your tender ways,
Your soft and gentle kiss

One day the waves I see
That pound to shore…
Will only carry with them
Love once more…

The time will come
When we together find
Eternal love…
And gentle peace of mind

When death no longer
Keeps us far apart…
We’ll walk together, once again
With grateful heart.

Love can’t be lost,
Once felt that it’s our own
It can’t betray…
Or leave us all alone.

Its sacred blessing
Gives us eyes that see
beyond the sunset…
Through all eternity
